Moshawquit Lake Fishing Regulations for non-members of the MITW: The Wisconsin state fishing regulations apply to people who are not members of the MITW when they fish on Moshawquit Lake. These regulations are on the WDNR website below.

Who may operate a boat? (from WI DNR site: http://dnr.wi.gov/education/outdoorSkills/safetyEducation.html)

  • No one under the age of 10.
  • Children 10 years of age but less than 16 if accompanied in the boat by a parent or guardian or a person at least 18 years of age designated by a parent or guardian.
  • Anyone at least 12 years of age may operate a motorboat if they have successfully completed a DNR prescribed boating safety course and possess a boating safety certificate issued by the Wisconsin DNR or another state.
  • There are no age requirements for operating a boat that is not equipped with a motor.

  • No one under the age of 12 may operate, lease or rent a personal watercraft.
  • No one under the age of 16 may rent or lease a personal a personal watercraft.
  • Children at least 12 years of age may operate a personal watercraft if they have successfully completed DNR prescribed boating safety course and possess a boating safety certificate issued by the Wisconsin DNR or another state. Adult supervision is not a substitute for a certificate.

Moshawquit Lake Safe Boating Rules

  1. No wake inside of the No-Wake buoys.
  2. Greater than no-wake speed is only allowed 10 AM – 7 PM.
  3. No wake is expected from 7 PM – 10 AM.
  4. You cannot operate above a no-wake speed within 200 ft of a swimmer, raft, boat, shore, pier, person being towed.
  5. Drive all watercraft in counter-clockwise direction around the lake.
  6. If towing a person/people, you need a driver, a spotter and an additional seat on the Watercraft (Boat or PWC) for each towed individual. Thus, in order to pull one person behind a PWC, it must be a 3-seat model. If you have a 3-seat PWC you may NOT tow 2 people.
  7. No towing a person between sunset and sunrise.
  8. There must be a wearable life-preserver for each person and 1 throwable cushion/ring for each skier.

Rules for Using the Moshawquit Lake Boat Landing

  1. Our boat landing is only open to tribal members and Moshawquit Lake Property Owners. The Property Owner must be present at the boat landing in order for your visitors/renters to use the landing. Your presence will also help to insure they are not bringing in Eurasian milfoil, zebra mussels or other Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS).
  2. Do not power your craft onto a trailer as it damages the boat landing ($200 fine!).
  3. If your boat or trailer is scraping the bottom at the landing, change your hitch receiver to lift your boat higher.
