Legend Lake Compost Site: The Legend Lake Compost site is available to Moshawquit Lake property owners for a $70 fee.  The general composite site rules are here.  The general rules mention the form you must submit to obtain the permit required to use the composite site but it is not attached to that document.  However, the permit form can be found on page 76 of the Spring 2020 Smoke Signals Along the Lake magazine.

Shawano County Landfill:  The Shawano County Landfill located at 1005 Rusch Road in Shawano is available for free for leaves and twigs. There is a nominal cost for branches.

Menominee County Clean-up Week:  Menominee County usually holds a clean-up week each spring where the waste hauler will pickup additional materials in addition to your regular garbage and recycling.  The flyer for the 2021 clean-up week can be found here (pdf download).  This map shows the location of the Keshena transfer site (pdf download).

Life Jacket Loaner Program: The Auto Prep Center @ 222 N. Main St. in Shawano offers a free life jacket loaner program.  This flyer (pdf download) provides further information.  If you need to borrow additional life jackets for guests, they are available free of charge through this program.  Please be aware that the website links in the flyer are out of date.  More information about boating safety and the life jacket loaner program is at the following website.

Registration of Home Alarm Systems:  The Menominee County sheriff recently informed the MLA board about an updated county ordinance concerning the registration of residential security systems.  This document (pdf download) contains the 2019 sheriff’s letter, registration form and the referenced ordinance.

The 2020 registration form is here (pdf download).  Just send a check to the address shown in the form if there are not changes to your information.

Aerator information: Please be aware that you must have a barricade around the open water created with your aerator.  The lack of a barricade to mark open water can create a very dangerous situation especially at night.  Many property owner and guests visit our lake in the winter and open water without a barricade can lead to a tragic event.
